Lloyds Bank conducted a series of user interviews to find out what they could offer their users to make their experience on the Lloyds Bank app better. An overwhelming number of users wanted a section where they could better understand how much their income and expenses are.
They wanted a simple dashboard design where users would get a visual presentation of their expenses and income over certain periods of time. The design had to be enjoyable and accessible to all. The feature was for users, and the design had to reflect that.
After our first call, I decided on some of the key points of the project. It had to be simple, so the style had to be minimalist. It had to make data visualisation easier, so the layout had to be organised. It had to be easy to use for all users, especially the elderly, so it needed to be clutter-free, and the design had to be easy to understand.
I chose a minimalist style and organised layout where people can see their total balance, their earnings and spending, and individual transactions. The font size had to be larger than usual so there wouldn’t be any confusion.
There are two separate versions of the dashboard: one for “income” and the other for "expense." By choosing “1d” (one day), “1W” (one week), 4M (four months), etc., users can see how much they spent over a period of time, as presented through bar graphs. It was important that the users get a well-designed visual representation of their financial activities.
Scrolling further, users can see individual entries for each transaction. Each entry has the key relevant information, and the number is easy to spot.
The final result was a well-thought-out and skillfully designed mobile app page created for the users. The design was made with usability and user-friendliness as the chief motivators. It helped Lloyds Bank create an easier way of communicating with their customers and provide a better web experience.
